A Pilot Study to Target and Assess The Reversal of Type 2 Diabetes through Lifestyle Medicine

What is the “L.I.M.I.T. Study”?

The L.I.M.I.T. Study is a pilot study funded by the Hunter New England Central Coast Primary Health Network, and facilitated by the Lifestyle Medicine Centre to target and assess the application of Lifestyle Modification to reverse Type 2 Diabetes.

The L.I.M.I.T. Study requires patients currently suffering with Type 2 Diabetes to undertake a 20-week program where they will apply Lifestyle Modification through a variety of avenues including:

  • Professional Support from our Multi-disciplinary Team

    • Lifestyle Medicine Accredited General Practitioners

    • Registered Nurse

    • Psychologist

    • Exercise Physiologist & Physiotherapist

    • Life Coach

  • Diet: You Are What You Eat | Real Food Choices | Gut Health | Energy Intake | Gut-Mental Health Connection

  • Exercise: Movement As A Predictor of Health | Active vs. Sedentary

  • Psychology: Can Your Habits & Thoughts Be Changed?

  • Medical: What Happens Inside Your Insides | Understanding Type 2 Diabetes

The Lifestyle Medicine Centre’s ethos is to not limit your challenges, but challenge your limits, thus coining the acronym for the L.I.M.I.T. study

This study is open to residents of the Central Coast region who have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and are ready to commit to an evidence-based program designed to reverse this Chronic Disease. Patients will be required to show a high level of self-efficacy as they apply the principles and practises of Lifestyle Medicine and attend regular check-ins and workshops with our multi-disciplinary team as well as group based activities.
